I decided to run for both the DSCC Seat 12B, and Union DPEC after the dismal performance of Democrats in the last gubernatorial race.
I have volunteered for progressive and Democratic campaigns for presidential, gubernatorial, mayoral, and all levels of races in between. For us to overcome this spiral into authoritarianism, I believe ordinary people like myself need to step up and become leaders in our own community. Our home parishes should be where we work the hardest to inspire other Democrats to not only vote in every election, but to also get involved.
We recently celebrated a big victory in Union Parish! In November 2023, Union DPEC was completely vacant, but in 2024 we now have 7 active DPEC seats filled—which outnumber the Republicans!
I have been inspired by other Democrats from across the state who are working tirelessly to win back our dignity, civic and human rights, but most importantly to ensure a free, democratic future for the next generation.
I am running for office, because I believe in responsibility and modernization. Too few of our Parish extensions of the Democratic Party have an online presence. We have to make getting involved at the parish level a fun, meaningful, and effective experience for people from all walks of life. We are the most inclusive political party, and it’s time that we start acting it.
It’s time that Louisiana Democrats adopt the National Democratic Party platform that wins elections and makes our communities more equitable. It’s time that we start winning again.
